Sunday, February 13, 2011, 3 pmJazz with Chuck & Robert Redd & Nicki Parrott Chuck Redd on vibes and drums and Robert Redd on piano will be joined by special guest Nicki Parrott, the outstanding bassist and vocalist from Australia. Nicki played regularly at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City with legendary guitarist Les Paul. Like the Redd brothers, she performs in the U.S. and internationally, and has played at jazz festivals in Germany, Switzerland, Scotland, Poland and Canada. Tickets: $20 for adults, $10 under 18. Saturday, February 26, 2011, 8 pmAlan Jabbour & Ken Perlman Alan Jabbour, fiddle, and Ken Perlman, banjo, return to share their wealth of talent and experience in Appalachian folk music. Tickets: $20 for adults, $10 under 18 Saturday, March 19, 2011, 8 pmMolasses Creek Together since 1993 (but first-time visitors to the Theatre at Little Washington), Ocracoke's Molasses Creek plays "traditional" music, has toured throughout the United States, released 9 CDs and received worldwide radio airplay. Band members Gary Mitchell, Fiddler Dave Tweedie, Marcy Brenner, Lou Castro and Gerald Hampton have just released a new album, "Follow the Heron Home." Award winners from "A Prairie Home Companion." They play fiddle, banjo, guitars and mandolin. Tickets: $15 for adults, $10 under 18 Saturday, April 9, 2011, 8 pmCooter's Unfinished Symphony Rappahannock's own Ben Jones returns with an evening of "songs, stories, whimsy, and totally unfounded rumors" featuring Jones and the Hazzard County Chamber Quartet in the premiere of "Cooter's Unfinished Symphony." Jones has been featured in hundreds of films, stage shows, television episodes, and musical gigs. He says his "worst acting job" was his two terms in the United States Congress. Saturday, April 16, 2011, 8 pmIONA The high energy pan-Celtic band: Barbara Ryan, lead singer, bouzouki, guitar and bodhran; Bernard Argent, wind section; Jim Queen, fiddle, banjo and vocals; Chuck Lawhorn, vocals and bass guitar; Kathleen Larrick, dance (Irish step, Highland dance and Appalachian clogging). Tickets: $20 for adults, $10 under 18. Saturday, April 23, 2011, 8 pm"BRASS JOY" From ITALY, from SWITZERLAND, and from closer to home, including RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY, "BRASS JOY". The JAZZ QUINTET comprises: LALO CONVERSANO, trumpet, former member of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra; DANILO MOCCIA, trombone, named "Best Swiss Jazz Musician 2010"; BILL HARRIS, piano; TOMMY CECIL, bass; BROOKS TEGLER, drums.
"Brass Joy" will play Jazz Standards, such as Cole Porter's "It's All Right With Me" and "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To," Jobim's "One Note Samba," Anne Ronell's classic "Willow Weep For Me," and a couple of original compositions including Danilo's "Come Back to Switzerland Please" and Lalo's "Ciao Pirata" in memory of the late Italian cycling champion Marco Pantani. Tickets: $20 for adults, $10 under 18 Sunday, May 1, 2011, 3 pmAudrey Andrist: Piano Recital In a concert titled "Themes and Variations," pianist Audrey Andrist performs Schumann's Symphonic Etudes, Mozart's D Major Sonata and Schubert's Theme and Variations. The program also includes a contemporary work by Derek Bermel: "Turning." Tickets: $25 for adults, $10 under 18. Saturday, May 7, 2011, 8 pmDark Hollow Bluegrass Band Something new has been added to the Band! The popular Dark Hollow Bluegrass Band, comprising Paul Fincham, five-string banjo, harmony; Larry Haynes, guitar, vocals; Buck Morris, mandolin, vocals; Hank Utz, bass; Bob Cook, lead guitar, vocals; and John Wilson, manager, return to the Theatre. They bring with them a fiddle player to add even more energy to their toe-tapping renditions of traditional bluegrass music. Tickets: $15 for adults, $10 under 18. Saturday, June 4, 2011, 8 pmNorth Sea Gas Dave Gilfillan, Ronnie MacDonald and Grant Simpson, who make up North Sea Gas, come from Scotland to play traditional folk music on guitar, banjo, mandola, bodhran, bouzouki and fiddle -- and they sing solo and in harmony.
