FIDDLE-BANJO SUMMIT
OLD TIME DANCE TUNES from APPALACHIA
|
Jabbour's jaunty, lyrical fiddling style is perfectly offset by Perlman's inspired approach to clawhammer banjo. The collection of traditional fiddle tunes from North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia amassed by Jabbour in the 1960s became part of the Archive of Folk Song at the Library of Congress, which he headed for many years. Perlman is known for his skillful adaptations of Celtic and Down-East fiddle tunes to banjo, and for his performance abilities. The duo plays together throughout the U.S.

"AS YOU LIKE IT" by William Shakespeare
A production of Cambridge University students
|
A touring cast of students from Cambridge University in England brings their production of Shakespeare's pastoral comedy, "As You Like It". "As You Like It" was probably the first play Shakespeare wrote for the opening of the Globe Theatre in 1599 -- and it surely remains as fresh and amusing today as it was four hundred years ago.
