Since the Schedule is subject to changes and additions, it is advisable to contact the Theatre by phone or e-mail in advance and to make reservations for live performances. Tickets for all performances presented by the Theatre are $15 for adults and $5 for students 18 and under, unless otherwise noted. Films are presented by the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community (RAAC), usually on the first and third Friday of each month at 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults. Saturday, September 6 at 8 p.m. "FIDDLE TUNES OF THE OLD FRONTIER"
Alan Jabbour

Alan Jabbour plays the fiddle music of Appalachia and talks about his quest for the tunes and traditions of the old Appalachian frontier. Prior to his retirement in 1999, Jabbour was director of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. He is one of folk revival's most influential fiddlers and collectors of old-time music. In the '60s, he made extensive music-collecting trips to North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia; he learned, in particular, the style and repertory of Henry Reed of Glen Lyn, Virginia. Tickets for this performance are $10 adults, $5 students 18 and under.

Ben Jones

Veteran stage and film actor Ben Jones premieres a new one-man show portraying Hall of Fame baseball pitcher Dizzy Dean, the colorful and eccentric star of the Depression-era St. Louis Cardinals, the unforgettable "Gashouse Gang." Tickets for this performance are $10 adults, $5 students 18 and under.

Saturday, October 4 at 8 p.m. LATIN JAZZ ENSEMBLE
CuBop

CuBop is a seven piece band: trombone, trumpet, saxophone/flute, with piano, bass, drums and percussion, led by drummer Joe McCarthy. They thrill audiences with their infectious polyrhythmic grooves, harmonic colorings, and improvisational lines.
 
 
Saturday, October 11 at 8 p.m. THE MUSIC HALLS OF PARIS 1900-1960
Les Papillons de Nuit

Robin Phillips Knop, accompanied by accordionist Carmelo Pino, brings her frothy, and fun one-woman cabaret show. "Through her amazing voice . . . double entendres and impeccable French accent, Miss Knop manages to capture the essence of such femme fatales as Colette, Mistinguett and the model, Kiki of Montparnasse, as they sing their hearts out in the little clubs of France . . . she conveys the raw emotion of a lone performer selling her talents to enthusiastic onlookers." Linn Barnes and Allison Hampton

Linn Barnes and Allison Hampton return for their ninth visit to the Theatre. They play Irish harp, steel-string guitars, mandolin, banjo, and unilleann pipes. The Washington Post has described them as "musicians of great virtuosity and feeling who make music that is both historically informative and eminently alive".
 
 
Saturday, October 25 at 8 p.m. SMITHSONIAN AT LITTLE WASHINGTON
Smithsonian Chamber Players

Lambert Orkis, fortepiano; Marilyn MacDonald, violin; Steven Dann, viola; and Kenneth Slowik, cello, open the twelfth season of the Smithsonian at Little Washington. Program for this concert: Schubert: B-flat Major Trio and Brahms: G Minor Piano Quartet.

Sunday, November 16 at 3 p.m. MOZART SONATAS for VIOLIN and PIANO
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Grammy award winning pianist Lambert Orkis and Philadelphia Orchestra violinist Lisa-Beth Lambert play the final concert in their three-concert series to include all sixteen Mozart Sonatas for piano and violin. Written between 1778 and 1788, these works challenge the virtuosity of both performers and reward the listener with some of the most memorable moments of this brilliant composer's music.

Saturday, November 22 at 8 p.m. "AND THEY CALLED IT DIXIELAND"
Federal Jazz Commission

The six-piece band, "Federal Jazz Commission," specializes in classic jazz as it was performed by various small bands in the 1920's, particularly those of King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, and Louis Armstrong. Since its inception in 1976, the FJC has performed for virtualy every major institution in the national capital area. Scrupulously apolitical, the FJC has been heard at the White House, Congress, Supreme Court, Smithsonian Institution, and at the Kennedy Center and foreign embassies. The repertoire includes rags, stomps, marches, blues, cakewalks, hymns, fox trots, and one-steps.
